It has been 2 whole years since Mark Speight joined our Foresight team as BDM. Since this time, Mark has been promoted to General Manager, we have been through a pandemic, moved to remote working and overcome changes and hurdles within the industry. Even through these unprecedented times with Mark’s continued focus we have continued to grow our existing business as a renowned provider of expert witness reports to the Legal Aid sector.

Since joining, Mark has developed a deep understanding of Foresight and its customers and helped navigate and grow the business and as a result we have seen over a 30% growth in a multitude of areas including new customers, enquiries, and to support the growth additional team members and experts.   

We sat down with Mark, to discuss the last 2 years and delve into the future of his role within Foresight…

Hi Mark, these past 2 years have been troubled by the pandemic and the huge disruptions to the sector and the working environment. How have you found working from home for the majority of this time?

I have experienced working from home in previous roles but not for long periods of time. Although I have missed the office environment and the bonds that working together creates, I do enjoy working from home. It has allowed for an increase work life balance, as I can spend more time with my family and less time commuting.

I’ve also been able to build a new skill set, by learning to adapt to using new technology with colleagues and clients to ensure relationships continue to build, develop and grow.

Are you looking forward to getting back into the office more regularly?

I have been working on a hybrid basis for several months and enjoy the balance this brings. I am looking forward to having the team around me on a more regular basis as face-to-face contact helps build team dynamics, relationships, and support networks.

I do enjoy the commute to the office as this gives me time in the morning to think about my day ahead and in the evening time to decompress before arriving home.

However, I am excited about spending less time on phone and Zoom calls and more time interacting with people directly.

What have you enjoyed most about the past 2 years?

I’ve really enjoyed working with the team and building strong relationships with my colleagues. I enjoy building relationships with new and existing clients and helping more people to understand the benefits Foresight can deliver to them.

One of my main focuses is to build on Foresights previous success and implementing new strategies that have impacted the business growth, I really enjoy getting stuck into this and seeing the benefits across the business.

On a personal level, I have enjoyed the personal challenges of moving from a Business Development Manager role to a General Manager. I have adapted and developed personally over the past 2 years in this role.

What do you believe you have brought to the company?

Passion and drive to always improve.

From day one of walking in the door I bought into the culture of Foresight and understood the important impact the business has on many people’s lives. I have worked across several key areas of the business to refine and improve their existing processes with the aim of improving our customer experience.

I also believe I have built a great deal of trust within the team through building relationships. Foresight is like a big family.

What do you think the future has in store for Foresight and your role?

I am excited to continue building on the success we have already achieved in my time at Foresight by helping more of our clients meet their expert needs.

I will continue to look at ways to innovate and improve our processes. We want to grow our team and build on our existing platform of highly dedicated and skilled staff.

My continued focus is simple: make Foresight the number one resource for sourcing an Expert Witness in the UK. We want to become known in the industry for delivering great customer service whilst building long lasting relationships with our clients and experts alike.
